By booking, enrolling in, attending, paying for, or otherwise using any service offered by Maple Keys Music Studio Inc., you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, as may be amended from time to time. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use our services.
If you are accepting these Terms on behalf of a minor, you represent and warrant that you are the parent or legal guardian of that minor and that you have authority to bind the minor to these Terms.
2. Scope of Services
Maple Keys Music Studio Inc. provides music education and coaching services, which may include, without limitation:
- Private piano lessons for beginners;
- Intermediate and advanced piano coaching;
- Children's music foundation classes;
- Adult beginner piano lessons;
- Exam and audition preparation;
- Music theory and ear training;
- Performance workshops and recital coaching.
Services may be delivered in-person, online, or in a hybrid format, depending on availability, scheduling, and program requirements. We may modify lesson formats, instructors, curricula, schedules, duration, or delivery methods at our discretion, subject to applicable law and any specific written agreement with you.
We do not guarantee specific educational outcomes, exam results, audition results, performance outcomes, or the attainment of any particular skill level, as progress depends on multiple factors including attendance, practice, aptitude, and engagement.
3. User Obligations and Responsibilities
As a student, parent/guardian, or other user of our services, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, complete, and current registration and contact information;
- Attend lessons and activities on time and prepared as reasonably required;
- Follow studio rules, teacher instructions, and safety requirements;
- Ensure that minors are supervised as required before, during, and after lessons unless otherwise agreed in writing;
- Bring required materials, instruments, books, and supplies, unless the studio has agreed to provide them;
- Maintain respectful behaviour toward instructors, staff, other students, and visitors;
- Refrain from recording, photographing, or livestreaming lessons, workshops, or recitals without prior written consent from the Company and, where applicable, the relevant participants;
- Use any online platforms or communication tools lawfully and in a manner consistent with these Terms.
You are responsible for ensuring that any personal instrument or equipment you bring to the studio is in safe working condition. If a student has any medical condition, disability, learning difference, allergy, or other circumstance that may affect participation or safety, you should inform us in advance so that reasonable accommodations may be considered where appropriate.
4. Payment Terms and Conditions
Fees, tuition, registration charges, workshop fees, recital fees, and any other applicable amounts will be communicated to you before or at the time of enrollment, booking, or purchase. Unless otherwise stated in writing, all amounts are in Canadian dollars (CAD).
Payment is due according to the invoice, schedule, package terms, or other arrangement communicated by the Company. We may require advance payment for lessons, packages, or special programs. Your enrollment may be suspended or cancelled if payment is not received when due.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, fees are non-transferable and may not be assigned to another person or program without our prior written consent. Discounts, credits, promotions, and package pricing, if offered, may be subject to eligibility conditions and expiry dates.
Where applicable, taxes will be added in accordance with Canadian federal and provincial law. You are responsible for any applicable taxes, charges, banking fees, chargeback fees, or collection costs arising from non-payment or disputed payments not caused by our error.
If you dispute a charge, you must notify us promptly in writing with sufficient detail to allow us to investigate. Nothing in these Terms limits our right to pursue unpaid amounts through lawful collection means.
5. Cancellation and Refund Policy
Cancellations, rescheduling, make-up lessons, credits, and refunds are subject to the policy communicated by the Company at the time of booking or enrollment and, if applicable, any written program-specific agreement. If no separate written policy applies, the following general principles apply:
- Lessons cancelled by a student, parent, or guardian with insufficient notice may be forfeited and not eligible for a make-up lesson or refund;
- Missed lessons due to student absence, lateness, or failure to attend are generally non-refundable;
- If the Company cancels a lesson and cannot provide a reasonable make-up option, a credit or refund may be issued at our discretion, subject to applicable law;
- Package purchases, registration fees, recital fees, workshop fees, and administrative fees may be non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated otherwise in writing;
- Refund requests must be made in writing to the contact information provided below.
We may charge a fee for late cancellations, no-shows, returned payments, or excessive rescheduling where permitted by law and where such charges are disclosed in advance.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit any non-waivable consumer rights under applicable Canadian or provincial law, including rights that may arise under the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act (British Columbia) or other applicable legislation.
6. Liability Limitations
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Maple Keys Music Studio Inc., its directors, officers, employees, instructors, contractors, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, loss of opportunity, loss of data, or emotional distress, arising out of or relating to your use of our services.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the services shall not exceed the amount actually paid by you to the Company for the specific lesson, class, workshop, or service giving rise to the claim during the three (3) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or CAD $100, whichever is greater, except where such limitation is prohibited by law.
We are not responsible for injuries, losses, theft, or damage to personal property occurring on our premises or in connection with our services, except to the extent caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct and except as otherwise required by applicable law.
Music instruction may involve physical, emotional, or performance-related stress. You acknowledge that participation is voluntary and that you assume the ordinary risks associated with music education, practice, performance, and use of studio equipment, subject to our legal duties under applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, or gross negligence where such exclusion is not permitted.

Any user-submitted content remains owned by the user, but by submitting such content you grant the Company a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use it for operational, educational, and administrative purposes in connection with the services, subject to applicable privacy laws and any consent requirements.

We may update or revise these Terms from time to time. Changes will be effective upon posting the updated Terms on our website, providing notice by email, or otherwise communicating the changes to you, unless a later effective date is stated.
Your continued use of our services after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must discontinue use of the services and, if applicable, notify us regarding cancellation in accordance with these Terms and any applicable refund policy.
11. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms, and any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to them, the services, or your use of the services shall be governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles.
